The world we live in today is fast-paced we easily get caught up in a never-ending cycle of performing one task after another, shouldering endless responsibilities, and attending each and every obligation thrown our way. We often find ourselves overwhelmed and exhausted, constantly struggling to keep up with the demands of our day to day lives. Ah! hence entre, the concept of ESSENTIALISM.

Essentialism necessarily means; to prioritize chores and activities selectively by saying “no” to the majority of what comes our way.

By doing so we may then devote our attention and concentration to the things that are genuinely important to us; rather than becoming weighed down by unneeded distractions, we can make room in our lives for the things that actually matter.

The idea of essentialism is quite old and has been around for centuries. It has been promoted by philosophers, thinkers, and leaders throughout history. But, in recent years, it has gained popularity, particularly in the online world. This is likely due to the fact that people are increasingly feeling the adverse effects of the fast-paced, always-online culturep; the insatiable need to be always online, to be always informed, to be connected and to be hip is weathering us in one way or another.

The advantages of essentialism are obvious. We may focus on the things that matter by saying “no” to the ones that don’t need our immediate attention or don’t deserve our attention at all.

As we all have limited energy alloted to us in 24hrs, it is prudent that we utillise this reservoir of energy wisely.

By being selective in our chores or tasks in a given day; we may free up space in our life for the things that genuinely matter to us, such as our relationships, hobbies, and ambitions. We may also minimize our stress levels since we are no longer overwhelmed by the never-ending demands of our life.

It is imperative to understand, that essentialism does not imply leading a minimalist lifestyle or renouncing all aspects of pleasure and happiness. It’s more about being selective and purposeful about what we say “yes” to. It’s about making deliberate decisions rather than letting our life’ demands tug us in different directions.

One of the fundamental concepts of essentialism is that we can steer our life, by being actively selective. We are the ones who choose what, which, where, and how we live our lives. We have the ability to pick which things we say “yes” to and which we choose “no” to.

How may we benefit from essentialism?

1. Greater focus: By saying “no” to things which aren’t essential, we focus on things which are. This can assist us in being more efficient and productive at work, as well as attaining our goals more systematically.2. Improvement in relationships: Essentialism helps us to make room in our life for what genuinely matters, such as our relationships with other individuals. By focusing on the people who are important to us, we can build stronger, more meaningful connections; after all we are a societal being.3. Greater fulfilment: Essentialism helps us to identify and pursue our passions and interests. By focusing on the things that truly matter to us, we experience greatly fulfilled and satisfacted in lives.4. Reduced stress levels: Essentialism allows us to reduce the number of demands on our time and energy, which can help to reduce our stress levels.5. Better decision-making: Essentialism encourages us to be more intentionally selective about the choices we make, which helps us to make better decisions.6. Increase in self-awareness: Essentialism pushes us to be more careful and purposeful about how we exercise our time, which assists us in becoming more self-aware and understanding our own values and our priorities.

Overall, essentialism can help us to create space in our lives for the things that truly matter, and live more fulfilling and meaningful lives.

Lastly, essentialism as a lifestyle has exploded over the internet (and it is easy to guess; as technology has boomed we all are more connected than ever before. Because of the fear of missing out; the amount of information we consume is affecting us in a way we have never witnessed untill recent time) , it refers to strategically prioritising activities at hand by saying “no” to others. Doing so allows one to channel all of our effort towards the target (it promots quality over quantity). It encourages us to stop letting things get us down and start making our own luck. Yet, we must keep in mind that essentialism is not a pursuit of unequivocal flawlessness; rather it is about picking and choosing, about making room in our schedules for the things that are really important.

Untill next time have a nice day
